Butyl Thioglycolate is an ether compound that has been used in the synthesis of glycol ethers and polymerization initiators. Butyl Thioglycolater is a clear, colorless liquid with a boiling point of about 170°C.
It can be used as a solvent in organic reactions, as well as in the production of detergents and other chemical products. Butyl Thioglycolater can also be found in household cleaning products, such as polishes, waxes, and furniture polish. It is an irritant to the skin and eyes and has been shown to cause mild toxicity when ingested or inhaled.
