Bioactive IBMX (Isobutylmethylxanthine, 1-methyl-3-isobutylxanthine) is a non-pioneer phosphodiesterase (PDE) conjugate Chemicalbook, with IC50 values for PDE3, PDE4, and PDE5 respectively. It is 6.5±1.2, 26.3±3.9 and 31.7±5.3μM. It can enhance intracellular cAMP levels and is an adenosine (A1) receptor antagonist.
Usage: Cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase protein inhibitor. Purpose Non-specific inhibitor of cAMP and cGMP phosphodiesterases. IBMX inhibits phosphodiesterase, and the increase in cAMP activates PKA, which results in reduced proliferation, increased differentiation and induction of apoptosis. IBMX inhibits the tryptamine induced by phenylephrine (reduced mucus from neuroendocrine epithelial cells). IC50:1.3μM) reduction. Also acts as an adenosine receptor antagonist.
