Lithium sulfate is a white inorganic salt with the formula Li2SO4. It is the lithium salt of sulfuric acid.

Lithium sulfate monohydrate is a lithium salt that is used as a reagent to produce lithium carbonate. It can also be used as an acid in the production of deuterium oxide, which is an important component in the manufacture of nuclear reactor fuel.

Lithium sulfate monohydrate has been shown to react with water vapor and ethylene diamine to form a metastable compound called lithium ethylene diamine tetrahydrate, which can then be dehydrated to form lithium ammonia tetrahydrate. This dehydration reaction has been shown to depend on the deuterium isotope effect.

Uses:

Can be used as piezoelectric material;

Separate calcium and magnesium for use in medicine and making fireworks.
