The difference between ACH (aluminum hydroxychloride) and PAC (polyaluminum chloride)

Aluminum Chlorohydrate (ACH for short), the Chinese name is aluminum hydroxychloride, also known as polymerized aluminum or aluminum hydroxychloride, the molecular formula is Al2(OH)5Cl·2H2O. It is an inorganic polymer compound with a higher alkalization degree (basic degree) than polyaluminium chloride and second only to aluminum hydroxide. It is bridged and polymerized through hydroxyl groups. The highest number of hydroxyl groups (5 hydroxyl groups) in the molecule are white. It is a color powdery solid and its solution is a colorless transparent liquid. The aluminum oxide content in the aluminum hydroxyl chloride liquid product is more than 23%, and the aluminum oxide content in the solid product is 46% to 51%. It has extremely strong bridging adsorption performance, and the solid product is not easy to deliquesce in the air.

Polyaluminium Chloride is {xAl2(OH)4Cl2 + yAl2(OH) 3Cl3+zAl2(OH)2Cl4}nH2O. The molecular weight is uncertain. It is an off-white yellow powdery solid, and its solution is a yellow translucent liquid. The alumina content in liquid products is less than 12%, and the alumina content in solid products is only 27% to 32%. It has small bridging adsorption performance, is easily soluble in water, and is easily deliquescent in the air. The common point is that the hydrolysis process is accompanied by physical and chemical processes such as electrochemistry, condensation, adsorption and precipitation.

Use

As antiperspirant, deodorant, astringent, etc., it is used in personal care products and other fields.

As a flocculant, it is mainly used for special water quality treatment to purify drinking water and water supply, such as printing and dyeing wastewater, etc., to remove iron, fluorine, cadmium, and radioactive pollution. It is often used in environments with a pH value greater than 7.5.

Parts that are not exposed to liquids can be made of any material, such as carbon steel, stainless steel, copper or aluminum.
