Specification of Butyl Valerate CAS 591-68-4
Description:
Butyl valerate is a colorless liquid with low water solubility. It has an aromatic aroma and has a low toxicity.
Synonyms:
butyl pentanoate;
Pentanoic acid, butyl ester;
Application:
Butyl valerate is commonly used as a spice and solvent. Due to its low solvent volatility and good stability, butyl valerate is widely used in paints, cleaners, coatings, glues, printing inks and other industries to provide good stability and volatility. In addition, butyl valerate can also be used as an intermediate in some chemical synthesis.
Preparation:
Butyl valerate can be obtained by the reaction of valerate with butanol. The reaction conditions are usually carried out under appropriate temperature and pressure in the presence of an acidic catalyst.
Safety Information:
Under normal use and storage conditions, butyl valerate is relatively safe. However, it is still a harmful substance, so the following things must be taken care of when using:
- Avoid inhalation, contact with the skin or ingestion. In case of accidental exposure, immediately flush the affected area with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
- Avoid contact with oxidants and strong acids to prevent fire or explosion.
