Introduction and application of CAS No.68399-77-9 | MOPSO
3-(N-Morpholino)-2-hydroxy-1-propanesulfonic acid (MOPSO) is an amphipathic molecule that has been shown to reduce the size of influenza virus particles and inhibit their ability to attach to host cells. MOPSO binds to the surface of the virus particle and disrupts the interaction between the virus and host cell, preventing infection. This agent shows no significant toxicity in mice at doses up to 2000 mg/kg. MOPSO is soluble in water and can be used for detection of influenza virus particles using magnetic particles. It also has a high binding constant with iron oxides, which is useful for detection sensitivity. MOPSO does not bind neurotrophins, which are growth factors that are important for neuronal development and survival.
