1. Use in Safety-Catch Nitrogen Protecting Group
The 9-(4-bromophenyl)-9-fluorenyl (BrPhF) group, a novel safety-catch amine protection, can be activated by palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of the aryl bromide with morpholine and then cleaved effectively under mild conditions. This group has complementary conditions for selective removal in the presence of tert-butyl esters and carbamates (Surprenant & Lubell, 2006).
2. As a Silylating Agent
Trimethylsilyl N-(4-bromophenyl)carbamate is an important silylating agent, with structures dominated by a plane containing a large number of atoms, organized by delocalization around the carbamate moiety (Böcskei et al., 1996).
3. In Organic Photovoltaic Materials
Tert-Butyl bis(4′-(hexyloxy)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4-yl)carbamate is synthesized via hydrolysis of its tert-butyl carbamate derivative for use in organic photovoltaic materials (Chmovzh & Rakitin, 2021).
