Introduction and application of EPDM Rubber 丨Ethylene-Propylene Diene Rubber (EPDM)
EPDM rubber is abbreviated as EPDM. It is a rubber copolymerized by ethylene, propylene and a third monomer. It has excellent ozone resistance, weather resistance, heat resistance and low temperature resistance. It has excellent electrical insulation properties and its air permeability is close to that of natural rubber. However, its self-adhesiveness, cold flow properties, and processing properties are not as good as those of ethylene-propylene rubber. It can be used to make open-cell and closed-cell sponges of various hardnesses, gaskets on automobiles, glass seals, radiator hoses, bridge shock absorbers, tire sidewalls and inner tubes, wire and cable sheaths, etc.

| Very good water resistant, and this resistance is maintained to high temperatures (up to 180°C in steam, for peroxide cures). The highest temperature resistance is achieved by using peroxide cured grades. Has excellent resistance to atmospheric ageing, oxygen and ozone up to about 150°C. It has good resistance to most water-based chemicals and to vegetable-based hydraulic oils. It has poor resistance, however, to mineral oils and diester based lubricants. | ||||
