Potassium oxalate monohydrate (K 2 C 2 O 4 ·H 2 O) is a salt of oxalic acid and potassium. It is an experimental model for the study of oxalate transport in biological systems. The water permeability of this compound has been shown to be higher than that of sodium salts, which indicates that hydrogen bonding interactions between the terminal residues on the surface of the molecule are important factors in determining its permeability. K 2 C 2 O 4 ·H 2 O has also been used as a reaction solution to study cell factors involved in high resistance to sodium citrate. Potassium oxalate monohydrate can be used as a biocompatible polymer because it does not cause an allergic response in animals or humans.

Used in pharmaceuticals and bleach, etc.
