These are fatty acids with an aliphatic tail that contains between 4 and 12 carbon atoms. 2-Decylenic acid is considered to be a practically insoluble (in water) and relatively neutral molecule. 2-Decylenic acid has been primarily detected in urine. Within the cell, 2-decylenic acid is primarily located in the membrane (predicted from logP), cytoplasm and adiposome. 2-Decylenic acid exists in all eukaryotes, ranging from yeast to humans. In humans, 2-decylenic acid is involved in fatty acid biosynthesis pathway.
