RU 58841 is a drug that inhibits the activity of the enzyme tyrosinase, which is involved in the production of melanin. It has been shown to be effective in treating eye disorders such as alopecia areata and ocular cicatricial pemphigoid. This drug also binds to receptors on skin cells that control pigmentation, and may be used in the treatment of skin conditions such as vitiligo and inflammatory dermatitis. RU 58841 is part of a class of drugs called experimental model for metabolic disorders and diabetes-related neuropathy. This drug has been shown to improve diabetic neuropathy by increasing nerve conduction velocity and preventing axonal degeneration.
