Tetrahydroxydiboron is mainly used for synthesizing pharmaceutical intermediates in Suzuki coupling. The earliest synthesis of tetrahydroxydiboron can be traced back to 1955. Wartik used inserting a zinc electrode into liquid boron trichloride to generate tetrahydroxydiboron, which then reacted with water to first generate tetrahydroxydiboron, and then heated to 220 ℃ for dehydration to generate (BO) X; In 1961, McCloskey used a method of adding quantitative hydrochloric acid dropwise to a mixture of tetra (dimethylamino) diboron and water at 0 ℃ to generate tetrahydroxydiboron in a yield of 56%. In the following nearly fifty years, there were almost no public methods reported in the literature, until Molander once again mentioned the use of the latter method to synthesize tetrahydroxydiboron in 2012.
