This reagent is used to convert azides to the corresponding diazo compounds under mild conditions.

N-Succinimidyl 3-(Diphenylphosphino)propionate is a reagent used for coupling with amino acids to form amide bonds. It has high solubility in organic solvents and is soluble in hexanes, acetone, and benzene.

N-Succinimidyl 3-(Diphenylphosphino)propionate can be used to make etoac (a mixture of ethanolamine and acetic acid). The diazo group of the succinimide ester reacts with the amino group on the protein to form an amide linkage. This coupling reaction is carried out at room temperature in aqueous solution under acidic conditions.
