Isododecane is a hydrocarbon component commonly used as a moisturizer in skincare products. Isododecane is harmful to the human body when inhaled in large quantities, ingested, or absorbed through the skin, and has a stimulating effect. Inhalation has an anesthetic effect.
1. Isododecane is a colorless liquid. Its vapor forms an explosive mixture with air, which poses a risk of combustion and explosion in contact with open flames, high heat, or oxidants. If encountering high heat, the internal pressure of the container will increase, which may cause cracking and explosion. The first aid measures for skin contact, eye contact, inhalation, and ingestion are as follows.
(1) Skin contact: Quickly remove contaminated clothing and thoroughly rinse the skin with soap and water.
(2) Eye contact: Immediately open the upper and lower eyelids, rinse with flowing water for 15 minutes, and seek medical attention in a timely manner.
(3) Inhalation: Remove from the site to a place with fresh air. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. If breathing stops, immediately perform artificial respiration and seek medical attention.
(4) Ingestion: If swallowed by mistake, rinse mouth with water and seek medical attention immediately.
2. Regular skincare products and cosmetics contain low levels of isododecane, which is used as a volatile oily solvent in their rapidly drying formulas and is harmless to the human body.
