Synthesis Method of CAS:7651-99-2 | Ethylenediamine tetra(methylenephosphonic acid) pentasodium salt
1. Mix 1,2-ethanediol and formaldehyde in the presence of sodium cyanide to form 1,2-ethanediylbis[nitrilobis(methylene)], 2. Add phosphorous acid to the reaction mixture and heat to form Phosphonic acid, [1,2-ethanediylbis[nitrilobis(methylene)]]tetrakis-, 3. Add sodium hydroxide to the mixture to adjust the pH and then add hydrogen peroxide to oxidize the phosphorous acid to phosphonic acid, 4. Finally, add pentasodium salt to the mixture to form the desired compound, Phosphonic acid, [1,2-ethanediylbis[nitrilobis(methylene)]]tetrakis-, pentasodium salt.
