Introduction and application of CAS No.9010-88-2 | Poly(methyl methacrylate-CO-ethyl acrylate)
Poly(methyl methacrylate-CO-ethyl acrylate) is a solid dispersion of polymeric matrix containing methoxy groups, fatty acid, and hydroxyl groups. It transitions from a gel to a liquid crystalline phase at a temperature of around 30°C. The water vapor transmission rate decreases as the temperature increases, which can be attributed to the fact that this material absorbs water vapor and becomes hydrophilic. This polymer is also used for immobilizing proteins and enhancing protein synthesis in the bladder. Poly(methyl methacrylate-CO-ethyl acrylate) is an acidic material with a pH of 5.5.
A colorless and transparent solid formed by the polymerization of monomers, commonly known as organic glass. Density 1.18g/cm3, light weight, not fragile, good light transmission, relatively stable to acids and alkalis. Easily soluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform, etc.
Application: It is used as transparent window glass and cover for airplanes and automobiles, to make optical instruments, electrical medical devices, transparent models, specimens, decorations, billboards, etc., and to make optical fibers, optical disc base materials and optical lenses, etc.

Water-based copolymer dispersions were prepared using methyl methacrylate (MMA), ethyl
acrylate (EA)(MMA/EA= 1: 2), and a series of nonionic polymerizable surfactants,
ie,"surfmers" based on poly (ethylene glycol)−(meth) acrylates. The latexes were compared
with the behavior of a conventionally stabilized (nonionic nonylphenol ethoxylate, NP100
with 84 ethylene oxide units) dispersion with the same MMA− EA composition (PMMAEA). A
number of techniques were employed in order to characterize structure, dynamics, and film …
