Introduction and application of CAS No.637-64-9 | Tetrahydrofurfuryl Acetate
Tetrahydrofurfuryl Acetate is a natural compound that inhibits matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). It has been shown to inhibit the activity of cathepsin B, an enzyme that can degrade collagen and elastin. Tetrahydrofurfuryl Acetate also inhibits MMP-2, MMP-9, and other enzymes involved in the degradation of cartilage. This compound is found in nepeta cataria, which is known as catnip or catmint. Tetrahydrofurfuryl Acetate may be able to reduce inflammation by inhibiting IL-1β and TNF-α production. It also prevents osteoclasts from breaking down bone tissue by inhibiting the release of RANKL and OPG.
