Paraffin oil refers to any colorless and odorless higher alkanes extracted from mineral sources, especially petroleum fractions. Typically, paraffin oil is a by-product of the process of fractionating petroleum and petroleum feedstocks to make gasoline. Paraffin oil is transparent, colorless, and mainly composed of alkanes and cyclic paraffins (related to petroleum jelly). Paraffin oil can be divided into light and heavy grades, with a density of approximately 0.8 g/cm3.
Characteristics
Mainly made of paraffins, it is very hypoallergenic and occlusive, with low aromatic content and high flash point, so it is non-toxic and environmentally friendly.
