Isohexadecane is a multi-branched liquid solvent with excellent performance and very economical used in personal care products. C16 is the main component and contains a small amount of C12 and C20 components. It is colorless and odorless. It does not contain any aromatic compounds and peroxides and has good thermal stability and oxidation stability. Isohexadecane is insoluble in water and acts like paraffin to form a barrier on the skin to prevent moisture loss. The multi-branched structure of isomerized hexadecane significantly increases its auxiliary properties. Therefore, products containing isomerized hexadecane will have a lighter and more elegant skin feel than products containing ordinary paraffin. This property makes cream and lotion products significantly less greasy, which is especially important in water-in-oil formulations. Due to its extremely low chemical reactivity, isomerized hexadecane provides higher stability than other esters and has good compatibility with most other cosmetic raw materials. In addition, isomerized hexadecane is non-toxic and non-irritating to eyes and skin.
