Introduction Cesium formate is a prismatic crystal.
It is soluble in hot water. Cesium oxalate can be generated when heated to 400°C in water.
Preparation method: When there is a small amount of water, use CO2 to act on CsH (when there is no water at all, you must first add Chemicalbook to heat to 54°C before the reaction can proceed), or react with refined cesium carbonate and formic acid, and use sodium carbonate. The cesium carbonate reacts with formic acid to obtain formate. After the excess formic acid is removed by recrystallization, it is crystallized from ethanol added with diethyl ether.
Using Cesium formate solutions (such as cesium formate brine (brine)) are high-density, low-viscosity clear brines used as drilling fluids, completion fluids, intervention fluids, and in oil and gas field recovery operations in wells and reservoirs. Suspended fluids are quite useful. Cesium formate is quite useful in HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) drilling locations.
