The finished product of food grade potassium metabisulfite is colorless crystal or white crystalline powder. It has the smell of sulfur dioxide and is easily soluble in water. The aqueous solution is acidic. It is mainly used as food bleach, preservative, antioxidant, and wine and fruit juice preservative. Preservatives, beer clarifiers, drinking water dechlorinants, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and grape preservatives are one of the widely used food additives.

Used as chromatographic analysis reagents, developers, reducing agents and bacterial inhibitors
Uses: reducing agent, developer, bacterial inhibitor, antioxidant, preparation of sulfurous acid.
