Introduction and application of CAS No.65853-65-8 | N-(2-Chlorobenzyloxycarbonyloxy)succinimide

N-(2-Chlorobenzyloxycarbonyloxy)succinimide (CbzOSu) is a reactive, solid-phase synthesis reagent used in the acetylation of peptides and proteins. It is synthesised by reacting an excess of chloroform with succinic anhydride in the presence of triethylamine.

The reaction is carried out at room temperature for 18 hours. CbzOSu can be used to immobilise peptides and proteins on silica, sephadex or cellulose columns. This reagent has been shown to have impurities that are spontaneously derivatised and will interfere with the ion-exchange chromatography process.
