Synthetic steps of CAPSO:
Sodium 2-hydroxy-3-chloropropanesulfonate and the solvent tetrahydrofuran were added to cyclohexylamine at 0°C, and stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. During the reflux process, the solvent THF was removed, stirred with hydrochloric acid water, extracted with ethyl acetate, and the organic layer was concentrated. White crystalline powder 3-(cyclohexylamine)-2-hydroxy-1-propanesulfonic acid was obtained with a yield of 93%.
Application:
The molecular structure of CAPSO contains both hydrophilic sulfonate groups and highly active hydroxyl groups, which are prone to reactions such as removal and substitution. Therefore, as an important functional substance, it can be used as an organic chemical intermediate. Preparation of excellent anionic surfactants, modified starch, drilling fluid water loss reduction materials, polymer functional monomers and other chemicals.
