3,6-Dibromobenzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylic acid is an important component of lanthanide metal complexes. It has been shown to bind two hydrogen bonds and form a single crystal x-ray diffraction pattern in the solid state. The UV spectrum displays bands at 228 nm (E ν = 1.87 eV), 264 nm (E ν = 1.65 eV) and 535 nm (E ν = 0.72 eV).
