Introduction and application of CAS 4046-02-0 | Ethyl ferulate
Ethyl ferulate is a natural compound that is found in plant-based foods, such as broccoli, apples, and wheat. It has been shown to have potent in vitro activity against a wide range of bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus. Ethyl ferulate has also been shown to be effective against Helicobacter pylori and Clostridium difficile. Ferulic acid and p-hydroxybenzoic acid are the main components of ethyl ferulate. Ferulic acid inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication. The high frequency of human activity has been shown using a patch-clamp technique on human erythrocytes.
