Application：
-5,5' -methylene disalicylic acid is widely used in the synthesis of dyes, fluorescent whitening agents and photosensitizers.
- It is also used as an additive in pharmaceutical intermediates and cleaning agents.
-Because of its light and thermal stability, 5,5' -methylene disalicylic acid is also used in optical films, coatings and polymer materials.

 

Preparation：
-5,5' -methylene disalicylic acid can be prepared by the condensation reaction of formaldehyde and salicylic aldehyde. The reaction generally requires the use of alkaline conditions and appropriate solvents.
