Introduction and application of CAS 586966-54-3 | Tert-buthyl Pitavastatin
Tert-buthyl Pitavastatin is a synthetic precursor to the natural product (+)-carvacrol. This compound is a racemic mixture of two enantiomers that are mirror images of each other. The desired enantiomer can be separated from the other by hydrolyzing the ester group with hydroxylamine and then separating the resulting diastereomers using column chromatography on silica gel. The desired enantiomer can also be obtained by converting it to its corresponding ketone and then hydrogenating the resulting alcohol to produce (+)-carvacrol.
