It has a high specificity and can be used to elute compounds with similar molecular weights. This compound has been used to purify high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) samples. The retention time of methyl (3R)-3-(tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)-5-oxo-6-triphenylphosphoranylidenehexanoate has been found to be independent of the sample solution concentration, flow rate, and chromatographic conditions.
