CEthyl 2-amino-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-1-benzothiophene-3-carboxylate is an antibacterial agent that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to amines and metal ions. It also has in vitro anticancer activity against cancer cells. Ethyl 2-amino-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-1-benzothiophene-3-carboxylate has been shown to have antiinflammatory activity in rats.
