Benzalkonium chloride is a cationic surfactant, belonging to the category of non oxidizing fungicides. It has a broad spectrum and efficient bactericidal and algal killing ability, effectively controlling the reproduction of bacteria and algae in water and the growth of slime. It also has good slime stripping effect and certain dispersion and permeation effects, as well as certain degreasing, deodorization and corrosion inhibition effects.
Easily soluble in ethanol and acetone. Although the dissolution rate in water is slow, aqueous solutions are easier to treat and are still preferred. The aqueous solution should be neutral to slightly alkaline, with a color ranging from colorless to light yellow. When the aqueous solution is shaken, it will produce foam. In the concentrated solution, it has bitter taste and light almond taste.
